Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is a Woman’s STDPelvic inflammatory disease is the most common reason why women can not conceive children. This is a little known fact that your doctor will tell you. When the reproductive organs are infected they do not function properly which makes getting pregnant nearly impossible. Most often the reproductive organs become inflamed and irritated. When this happens you find that there is some mild discomfort for many women who are already pregnant. Contracting pelvic inflammatory disease is most often achieved by way of sexual transmission. The male partner will have either Chlamydia or Gonorrhea which is the main cause of pelvic inflammatory disease in all women. The disease is carried in the semen which then spreads to the female’s reproductive organs and throughout the body. There have been cases where contact with other bodily fluids has caused the infection but this is very rare and should not even be considered when trying to determine the cause. Some women have no symptoms when they contract pelvic inflammatory disease and this makes it very hard to detect. There are a list of symptoms that can occur which are the most common. There are normally at least one or maybe two pelvic inflammatory disease symptoms that will present in about eighty percent of all women and they can include: * Dull pain or ache in the lower abdomen area. May also present as tender to the touch areas. * Yellow or green discharge from the vagina with a foul odor. * Problems during the menstrual period which can include prolonged bleeding, spotting or pain for an extended period of time. * Severe illness that comes on all of a sudden and has no apparent cause. Can include chills and high fever. * Discomfort during intercourse. If you believe that you may have contracted pelvic inflammatory disease seek the advice of your doctor as soon as possible. The sooner you are tested the sooner you can be treated and be rid of the disease.
